About me

IndustryAdvertising
IntroductionBorn in The Lake District, England. Did Law at Oxford University - great for drinking but a little dry on subject matter. Work in Direct Marketing - the less glamorous sister to Advertising but it's done me alright. Moved to London in 2000 + New York in Autumn (yes that's Autumn, not 'fall') 2008. I have an inherent mistrust of Tuesdays. They're bad. At least Monday is honest about being shit, Tuesday - she (for it is a she) is petty + spiteful - kicks you when you're down before Thursday (the antithesis of Tuesday) can get in there to announce the approach of the weekend. My husband is a Kiwi + thoroughly wonderful in more ways than I could recount + my favourite foreign country visited so far is Rwanda.
InterestsExcellent food and drink - I mean the invention of Cheese is enough to make you believe there's a higher purpose in life!, Photography, Travel, The colour green, Peonies and Gerberers (but not Carnations), My friends and family, Italy and DIY on our house there, The search for the ultimate Bloody Mary, Secretly indulging in The News of The World, good grammar - I judge people who can't use apostrophes correctly or use their/there/they're incorrectly, I object to vegetarians - no vegetarian meal exists that couldn't be improved by the addition of meat. My favourite quote on the subject: "vegetarian's don't get full. They just get bored.", The study of names with my friend Jen: Colin's are never sheisters; Simon's are crowd-pleasers (sometimes good – e.g. my brother with his sharp wit; sometimes bad e.g. a Simon I once encountered who’d screw anyone over to be popular - you see? Crowd pleasing in a bad way). There are lots more + this is a growing study.
Favorite moviesWhen Harry Met Sally, Footloose, Kill Bill, Anchorman, Dodgeball, Blades of Glory
Favorite musicCheesey stuff is great - classic 80's but I'm a fan of such an eclectic selection from, The Beach Boys to, Pink to, Paul Simon to, Nina Simone to, Vivaldi to, Wham, but mostly stuff that makes you want to dance
Favorite booksThe stuff that makes you think or brings a different place to life. Some real winners are, The Kite Runner, Tuesdays with Morrie, The Life of Pi, Senior Vivo and the Coca Lord, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, and Shake Hands with the Devil
