Introduction	I'm just getting back to my own life after spending 5+ years dedicated to finding a medical diagnosis for my daughter. Thank god for the internet! After 3 years of complete debilitation which began when she was 14, Nov 5, 2004...Amy had brain decompression surgery, May 21, 2007 at The Chiari Institute in New York. The only surgeons in the entire world (no kidding) able to diagnose her and do this surgery; which besides enlarging the opening in her skull where the brain stem and spine meet, also involved fusion of her top 6 vertebra and insertion of titanium rods and a skull cradle. In the time since, she has taken an actual in-school high school class, got her GED and driver's license and is a freshman in college; one mile away but living on campus. While still plagued by tachycardia and other symptoms, she is making up for lost time and so am I! I actually hope to soon figure out what I want to do when I grow up. Happy Trails, Helene
