| Introduction | "Fixed the newel post!" A quote from the holiday classic, Christmas Vacation, and the inspiration for the name of our blog. I am an elementary teacher living in a suburb of Birmingham, a transplant to the south, but it just fits. I love the southern traditions football, food and good friends, but I loath the 100 degrees plus humidity in the summer. I grew up in California so I have a real appreciation for the trees, mountains, and southern hospitality in place of cement, stucco and traffic. I am married to Troy and we recently moved into our first house. I love to shop, decorate, and redecorate, as everyone close to me well knows. I love the Christmas season and traditions, both of which inspired the names for my dogs. Bing Crosby, our Golden Retriever, and Natalie Cole(Nat),our Black Lab. We now have a little one on the way, due April 10th! |
