| Introduction | My name is Emily Smith, I'm 16 and I have had allergies since i was 4 years old. I'm deathly allergic to all tree-nuts. My life with allergies has been difficult, with my life almost ending many times because of food. Who knew food could be so scary? Only someone with allergies can understand this. The feeling of your throat tightening and stomach knotting is terrifying. I've been lucky and haven't had a reaction in years, but this is only because of extreme caution. Being a teenager is different from when your parents would re-read all ingredients and always talk to the waiters at restaurants for you. As a teenager, you go out with friends to dinner and your parents aren't there to protect you, you're all on your own. You're life is in your own hands. It's scary. But thankfully I've been able to handle this pressure and my allergies haven't hurt me recently. I'm thankful every day for that. This is my first blog and I'm excited to share my stories with you guys and I hope to hear all of your stories! |
