| Introduction | Greetings, My name is Hau Nguyen, and sometimes I go by Howard. I was born and raised in Vietnam until 1989, which was when I immigrated to Thailand for transitioning to the United States. After relocating to the Philippines and staying there for about six months, I moved to the United States and have resided in Georgia sine 1989. After graduating from high school, I really did not know what I wanted to do because I had to consider helping my little sister and my mom who has not worked since we moved to the United States due to her medical illness. I ultimately decided to attend Paine College in Augusta, Georgia, majoring in Early Childhood Education. After getting my first real job as an elementary school teacher, I decided to go back to graduate school and received my MBA degree with concentration in Human Resource Management. Since I was the only person in my family's history to ever graduate from high school, I decided to go on and further my education. I went on and obtained my doctoral degree in instructional leadership. |
| Interests | I have many interests, and my favorite interest is playing chess. When I have free time, I enjoy playing chess online to relax and boost my brain's capacity. It helps me with critical thinking. In addition, I enjoy a great game of tennis with friends. Reading, cooking, taking a leisure walk at a park, and doing yard work are among some of my interests. In addition, I have enjoyed traveling to different countries, which I consider as a way of authentically knowing other people's cultures, beliefs, practices, customs, and so on. I have worked as a teacher in different settings: elementary, middle, high, and even college. I have enjoyed being a teacher, and my teaching philosophy has been very simple: putting students first. In teaching and learning, it is my primary responsibility to put students first. If not, I meet their intentions for learning. When I put students first, I can align and design everything I need to teach and ensure students understand, appreciate, connect, and see relevancy in their learning. Eventually, I hope to end my teaching career as an English professor at a public college or university. If not, I would like to retire in my native country, Vietnam, and I would like to teach English to unfortunate kids without charging fees. |
| Favorite movies | I have not watch movies in so many years. Thus, I could not even recall a movie that I had watched before. However, I did enjoy watching comedy movies. |
| Favorite music | I used to like American R&B. My favorite artist was 2Pac. However, I have enjoyed listening to Vietnamese country music. |
