| Introduction | In 2014, my books were released, Poemas ante El Catafalco: Grief and Renewal (Chimbarazu Press: NYC) and I Am South (Virgogray Press: Austin). In 2015, NeoPoiesis Press of Vancouver Island, British Columbia will publish The Tongue Has Its Secrets. I am working on a manuscript for Nightwing Publications in Seattle. I contribute regularly to VEXT Magazine and Red Fez, and have well over 100 publications in magazines and anthologies. |
| Interests | In 1995 I organized the Tumblewords Project for which I still present free weekly writing workshops, as well as performance events and publications. I contribute regularly to VEXT Magazine and Red Fez. My work has appeared in Puerto del Sol,Queen Mob's Teahouse, The Montucky Review, Malpais Review, the Taos Poetry Circus program, yefief, Hembra, Mezcla, Sin Fronteras, among other journals. I have read in Sitka, Alaska, Denver, Colorado, Venice and Santa Mónica, California, Boston, New York City, and throughout Texas and New Mexico. My work as an activist and poet has been featured in the Texas Observer, the El Paso Times, the Albuquerque Journal, Stanton Street, El Bridge, and other periodicals. |
| Favorite movies | I'll watch anything once. Some movies I'll watch several times, things like Cool Hand Luke, Midnight Cowboy, anything Cohen, Waking Dream, Basketball Diaries, Requiem for a Dream. |
| Favorite music | Everything from afro-caribbean to rock to jazz to Baroque to Shostakovich to rockabilly to blue grass, with a special taste for blues and anything angry. |
| Favorite books | I cut my teeth on Nancy Drew and Puck of Pook's Hill. Now I read anything I'm given by another writer, literary magazines, and stuff on-line. |
