Introduction | Bill and I (Juanita) own and operate an historic log lodge, built in the 1930s. We've been the proud owners of the Allenspark Lodge B&B since December of 1997. Ranger is Bill's 20 year-old grulla BLM Mustang. He and his counterpart, Shadow (who, sadly, had to be put down due to an injury), were our first horses. The spring after we put Shadow down, I received a "throw-away" foal - a Mustang-Draft cross - that I quickly named Jesse after the cowgirl in Toy Story. Shortly after Jesse, a neighbor gave us Washoe, another "throw-away" horse - a Mustang-Arab cross - who had gotten to be pushy and too much for the neighbors to handle. We have trained all three of our horses; Bill working extensively with Ranger through trial and error. Bill says he "spent the first year trying to break Ranger, the next year healing and apologizing, and the third year training." |
