| Introduction | I am always dwelling in the past. I had dreams, and what I called ‘memories’, of the highlands of Scotland when I was a very small child, even before I knew my heritage. And there are so many paths to Scotland and Ireland in my blood that I now have no doubt those childhood dreams came to me honestly. I truly enjoy genealogical research and proudly trace much of my lineage to the Scotland, Ireland, England, Norway, Africa, and Southern Europe. Together with my eldest son, we have discovered countless incredible people including flax farmers, fisherman, housewives, masons, servants, pages, knights, queens, and kings. Each of these people has a story to tell, and we are more than willing to listen. It is exciting to me that today's resources afford us the opportunity to revisit these stories, to be moved and humbled by them, and to better understand what sacrifices were made to shape the world we have today. I am also proud to have a better understanding of where I come from and to recognize such honor and courage as existed in so many of my kin. |
