About me

Introduction I am one of the UK’s leading exponents of Egyptian dance, and a leading international performer and teacher. My style is known for its authenticity and deep emotional expression (yes, that’s right, I’m highly strung). I have danced and taught extensively throughout the UK, Europe, Egypt and the Middle East, including regular functions for Arabic royal families. I have toured the UK with my dance companies Sharqi, Masriat and in recent years Johara Dance, and have choreographed works for the theatre and opera in England and France. In 1990 I formed my school JWAAD to run courses here and abroad, the JWAAD Professional Training Diploma Courses, the Fantasia Festival every December in London, and the annual JWAAD Summer School (the most fun of anything I do).
