Introduction | Editor of www.uncannyuk.com. Author of 'Haunted Wales', 'Haunted Clwyd', 'Wales of the Unexpected', 'Supernatural Clwyd' and 'Bye-gones'. Interest in the supernatural began after becoming the focus of a poltergeist when I was 11 and 12. |
Interests | Ghosts, folklore, antiquities, the British countryside. Lots of other stuff, too. |
Favorite Movies | Alongside 'good' cinema, arty or otherwise, I have a soft spot for the best of the Hammer horrors and 50s sci-fi. 'The Haunting' (original, obviously) is perhaps the finest supernatural thriller ever made, capturing the atmosphere more genuinely than any other. |
Favorite Music | 70s punk, 80s/90s indie, psychedelia, some prog and heavy rock. Clasical and secular medieval music, too. Namecheck Julian Cope, The Strnaglers, XTC, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, Supergrass, The Charlatans, Wedding Present and Spacemen 3/Spiritualized. |
Favorite Books | Weird stuff, surprise surprise, such as M R James, E F Benson, Arthur Machen, Algernon Blackwood and the later writers like Bloch, Bradbury and Matheson. I enjoy the Flashman books and the works of Robert Nye. I do have a wide-ranging and eclectic taste in fiction, from Anthony Trollope to Dan Rhodes, William Burroughs to Augusten Burroughs. I collect Victorian/Edwardian magazines and old non-fiction books on ghosts and folklore. |
