| Favorite movies | Alongside 'good' cinema, arty or otherwise, I have a soft spot for the best of the Hammer horrors and 50s sci-fi. 'The Haunting' (original, obviously) is perhaps the finest supernatural thriller ever made, capturing the atmosphere more genuinely than any other. |

| Favorite books | Weird stuff, surprise surprise, such as M R James, E F Benson, Arthur Machen, Algernon Blackwood and the later writers like Bloch, Bradbury and Matheson. I enjoy the Flashman books and the works of Robert Nye. I do have a wide-ranging and eclectic taste in fiction, from Anthony Trollope to Dan Rhodes, William Burroughs to Augusten Burroughs. I collect Victorian/Edwardian magazines and old non-fiction books on ghosts and folklore. |
