IntroductionPaul R. Martel is a humanitarian, businessman, and an avid hiker and trekker. He enjoys the White Mountains and the Presidential Range in New Hampshire. He completed his first trek in Nepal in April, 2023 trekking to Gokyo Ri at 17,575. His second in November, 2023 crossed the Chola Pass also ending at the Gokyo Ri summit. His third trek brought him very close to Everest at the summit of Kala Patthar at 18,519'. Paul is the founder of the U.S. foundation, Partners For Andean Community Health (PACH) and the co-Founder of the Ecuadorian foundation, Fibuspam and its hospital, Hospital FIBUSPAM located in Riobamba, Ecuador. He has been active in humanitarian medical work in Central and South America for over 25 years organizing many surgical teams traveling to Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala and Paraguay. Paul founded his original clinic in Riobamba in 2007. It has grown to a fully accredited 4 story, multi-specialty hospital. Paul's trek to Gokyo Ri in April, 2023 and his trek to Kala Patthar were organized to celebrate the work of FIBUSPAM and raised dollars for PACH's Permanent Endowment Fund.
