Introduction Because animals are viewed as commodities - "things" that we can own and profit from - they are used without conscience. We factory farm them, beat them and skin them alive, badger and torment them for entertainment, experiment on them, cage them, ruthlessly over breed them, tear their children away from them, and throw them away when we no longer want them. I have always felt a nagging guilt about these issues but chose to close my mind to them.. assuming that this was the natural order of things and believing that humans needed to use animals to live a healthy life. I closed my mind because the truth was too ugly. I was wrong to do that. Now I know that there is another way. My rebellion against the injustices served upon animals, and my celebration of a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle is to live as a vegan - to embrace a life that embodies the change I want for the animals, the earth and for us.. and I love it!!
