| Introduction | Avid aviation enthusiast. Received my PPL in 1988. Currently 850 hours TT. Commercial, Instrument, CFII. In my pursuit to potentially purchase my own aircraft, I was introduced to the world of experimentals. I truly believe that E-AB (Experimental Amateur Built) aircraft will be the preferred General Aviation aircraft. I discovered the Bearhawk 4 Place after reviewing several other experimentals including the Glasair III. I sought something speedy for potential long cross country flying. The Bearhawk 4 Place is what I found. It wasn't as fast as the 200mph Glasair III, but a 150mph cruise speed for a high wing taildragger was nothing to sneeze at. Oh, and with a stall speed just above 35, putting her down in the event of the unexpected engine "pop" makes it that more appealing. I couldn't find a used Bearhawk that suited me, despite some hard looking. There's not more than 100 of these birds flying right now, so it's understandable the lack of supply. So I decided ok, I'll build my own! So follow along and watch the progress. |
