| Introduction | The United States was founded with the idea of individual liberty, sanctity of private property rights, and limited government. But, of course, the founders knew that the prevailing tendency would be for government to grow and liberty to recede. And recede it has. My studies of economics have led me to the realization that allowing any role for government is a slippery slope. The market failure justifications for government intervention are misplaced or mistaken arguments. Markets do not fail. The justifications for a central bank are invalid. There is no need for an "elastic" currency and there never was. |
