Introduction	In the beginning: One of my earliest childhood memories takes place within the forests of the Sierra Nevada mountains of Northern California. During a family camping trip, the low hanging boughs of a Douglas fir enticed me to climb until I could see only sky. That moment, filled with the scent of pine sap, the low, steady drone of wasps, and wind transformed me into an avid tree climber and dedicated bio-phile. Consequently, my passion about our dynamic earth and its myriad forms of life has guided my personal and professional decisions. B.S. Botany and Microbiology M.S. Education (secondary science and curriculum) Music: Piano, highland bagpipes, tin-whistle. Life: Family, friends, food, fun, Mantra: "Leave it better than you found it,"
