Introduction	I was born and grew up high in the Andes Mountains. a native of the driest desert on earth, the Atacama. The most beautiful sunsets in the world are what I remember most and learning to read. There was a small library in my home town that was started by an enterprising librarian who called for all the readers to donate what ever books they could spare and eventually space was donated and a small lending library took root. By the time I was twelve I had read a great part of the books there and it was my interest in Erle Stanley Gardiner and the red headed, hard boiled Michael Shayne that turned my interest mainly to the mystery genre.
