| Introduction | About the Author: Jeb Koogler is an Associate at the Watson Institute for International Studies, and a former Research Fellow at the New America Foundation. Previously, he worked as a research assistant to (retired) Senator Lincoln Chafee. Articles of his have been published in the Christian Science Monitor, the American Prospect Online, and the Columbia Journalism Review. He has lived almost two years of his life in the Middle East, primarily in Syria, and is proficient in Arabic. |
