| Introduction | We started Fringey when we realised that, while we love living in London going to gigs and all the pretentious bars, we were totally unconnected and not at all – gasp! -scene. Not for us the guestlist or the back stage pass. No shagging of bass players or drinking in the VIP bar. Then we thought – feck it, who needs it? Drank lots of gin and decided that life on the fringe is quite fun. Yes, we know where all the best nights out are to be had and we will occasionally have a drink in the pub across the road. Yes we know who the hot new bands are, getting us dancing on a Saturday night, but we’re not about to fight it out with 17 yr old groupies to say hello when we see them out and about on the Essex Road, (well not much). We don’t need the guestlist, because we have proper jobs and can afford to pay £7 to see the latest ‘up and coming’. Basically, we quite like the London scene, but aren’t going to whore ourselves out to it. The Fringey blog is a record of us hanging out on the fringes. I'm taking notes and ultimately plan to return to Ireland to open a chain of "Shoreditch" theme pubs. |
