Introduction After four decades as a medical doctor it's a relief to have the freedom to be creative: paintings, creative writtting, sculpture, a bit of luthierie, venerie etc. In my spare time I'm a patient representative for the Age Related Macular Degeneration Service's Forum and the Chairman of Grampian Hospitals Art Trust Board of Trustees. I'm following some of the threads that have been in my mind for some time. For example, transferable skills such as mental modelling underlie a wide variety of kinds of expertise, from anaesthesiology to painting, from musical improvisation to writing. Creativity, or to put it another way, doing stuff, generates meaningfulness. Read more in my experimental novel, !Leonardo Mind for Modern Times, out now on the iTunes iBookstore. Currently my project is to paint a couple of hundred images and select a few dozen to show, if any are good enough!
