| Introduction | I am an elementary art teacher. When I am not teaching, my family and I live in and are restoring an eighteenth century parsonage built by the Reverend Joseph Huntington. Joseph's brother is Samuel Huntington, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Joseph, in addition to being a minister in the eighteenth century, was a teacher, and prepared Nathan Hale for Yale University. Nathan Hale was the patriot spy who is coined with the phrase "I regret that I have but one life to give for my country". We live with a bit of history in this house. We own about 2 acres with the dwelling, and we have 3 goats (two are Pygora, 1 Nigerian Dwarf), a cat named Mittens and 3 grown children. I love the fiber arts, and I am always looking for ways to bring textiles to life in the classroom for my students. I am currently exploring bow looms, rigid heddle looms and dyeing fiber. I am the lucky owner of a nineteenth century hand hewn floor loom, a 45" Leclerc jack loom, a Tapestry floor loom, as well as assorted table models, and spinning wheels both new and antique. |
