| Introduction | So where did it all start? My proper introduction to computers and technology was when as kids my parents bought my sister and me a Sinclair ZX81 (with 16k RAM pack!!!) in the early 80’s. (And yes I still have it but have not turned it on in over 20 years). It used cassette tape as an input device to load games, bomber being the one I remember working and actually being some fun. I did not programme that machine, but then I was only 7 J. I had a BBC micro, an Amiga and used Atari ST’s, early x86 PC’s, Acorn A3000, BBC’s B, BBC Masters, and Early MAC’s (all in school) and also a Commodore PET and later PC’s in my parents business. When I studied, I used PC’s, Sun SPARC’s, Macs, Pyramid and briefly worked on Silicon Graphics machines. Since working, I have had exposure to RS6000’s AS400’s All forms of MAC’s, the realms of PC’s, Servers, RAID’s, Tape Changers, network switches, routers, etc etc etc etc etc. Basically, I have had my own personal evolution view of Computers and more generically technology. I have been truly astounded to see how computers have evolved over my life, it is a very real revolution happening at speed. I get amazed by what I see next. |
