| Introduction | Kate and Kristen met in 1996 in SC. After years of living in various separate places, the two met up again in NYC where they both grew to share a love of food and photography. Kate now lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and Kristen lives 73 miles north in Beacon, NY.
Kate teaches art at a private school for children with special needs and also works as a freelance museum educator. Kate and her husband, Branden, recently moved to Greenpoint after 4 years in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. They are active in their CSA and enjoy traveling, making art, and eating good food together. Kristen recently relocated from Manhattan to Beacon and lives in a drafty old house with her husband, PJ, and their cats. She works in PR and marketing for a nonprofit organization that combines supportive housing and the arts and loves taking photos, baking, gardening and having adventures with PJ. Kate and Kristen created "From Brooklyn to Beacon” to begin a dialogue which embraces not just food and cooking, but the social and community aspects food brings to both cities and small towns. They hope to inspire readers to embark on culinary adventures of their own, and share their stories. |
