Background:
| Introduction | I am a Professor of Psychology at California State University, Dominguez Hills (since 1975), a research psychologist and an international expert in the "Psychology of Technology." Over the past 30 years, my colleagues and I have studied 30,000 people around the world. I have written four books: "Rewired: Understanding the iGeneration and the Way They Learn" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010) "Me, MySpace and I: Parenting the Net Generation" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007), "TechnoStress: Coping with Technology @Work @Home @Play" (Wiley, 1998), "The Mental Health Technology Bible" (Wiley, 1997) and write a technology column for the newspaper The National Psychologist (since 1995). I have also given keynote speeches around the world. Recent research: generational differences in technology/media use, impact of media on health, impact of text message interruptions, examination of the impact of MySpace on parents & adolescents, online dating, multitasking & English literacy, peer vs. expert Internet opinions, and the impact of video game playing. I received my B.A. in Mathematics from UCLA and my Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California at San Diego. I reside in San Diego, California. |
