| Introduction | Hi, my name is Peter and was born 1958. I was first diagnosed with unstable angina in 2013 when I had my first angioplasty & stents. I then suffered a mild heart attack while out walking in Dec 2016 and gained a another stent - now busy trying to lose some weight and improve my health & fitness to avoid further heart problems. During 2017 I completed the 6 weeks cardiac rehab and followed this with 12 weeks on the FFIT programme (football fans in training run by professional football clubs) which offered diet & nutrition advice as well as fitness training. In Oct I joined a 13 mile 'London Bridges' sponsored walk and raised £1797.00 towards the cardiac rehab (Hearts & Souls) and started jogging the local 5km parkrun as well as rejoining the FFIT boys for a weekly circuit training. In Sept 2020, 3.5 years after my heart attack, the same amount of time as between my first two angioplasties, I ran the Maidenhead half marathon course (my first HM in 27 years) during the Covid pandemic to prove the progress I had made and raise further funds for Hearts & Souls bringing the total to £4,604.00 over four events. |
