| Introduction | Ann has been painting professionally since 2002 when she moved to the Eastern Shore to join husband, Joe Mayer. Together they opened The Studio Gallery (their studios and gallery) in Easton, MD. Ann also is represented by Gallery 1683 in Annapolis, MD. Ann paints landscapes, portraits, still life and non-objective abstracts in oil and acrylics. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America, The Oil Painters of America, Easton’s Working Artist Forum, The Friday Morning Artist of Easton, and is a past president of the Talbot County Visual Arts Center. Artist Statement: “I paint what I like using vivid hues and dramatic scenes. Painting should be exciting and fun as well as rewarding. I do studio and Plein air painting and love my recent abstract non-objective paintings. When painting abstractly you must really understand compositions and how one hue will affect another. Some of my work is done just to challenge myself. I find that doing a series of paintings is great but I often will do just one of a certain style or subject and then am ready to move on. It is just exciting to wake up and know I will be going to the studio to get myself covered in paint.” |
