| Introduction | When I was little, 40 seemed really old. By the time I was 40 I thought I'd have things figured out. If there's one thing parenting has taught me it's that I have very little figured out. I'm figuring it out as I go, and would like to invite you on my journey. We can learn from each other, and hopefully, laugh our way through it. |

| Favorite movies | If I could pick only a few, I'd have to say Defending Your Life, Rudy, A Beautiful Mind, Regarding Henry, Dave, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Elf, The Polar Express and The Devil Wears Prada. I used to like really intense true life stories. Now I have to say I'm more into things that keep it light and make me laugh. Recent favorites include It's Complicated, Four Christmases, Marley and Me and the like. Can't resist Steve Martin in anything, and really enjoy most of the work of John Cusack and Vince Vaughn. Love Meryl Streep in anything she's in. |
| Favorite music | Killers, Fratellis, James Taylor, Five for Fighting,Foo Fighters, Broadway musicals, 311, Steely Dan, Paul McCartney and Wings, 70s disco and too many others to mention. |
| Favorite books | Again, too many to mention, but I do enjoy the work of AJ Jacobs, Denis Leary, Po Bronson and the StoryCorps Project. I am a voracious periodic literature reader and still love the print edition of the newspaper. |
