| Introduction | Currently I am attending George Brown College, enrolled in the hospitality degree program. I became interested in the hospitality sector while in high school where I had the opportunity to take courses incorporating cooking, serving, and nutrition. Though I was passionate about this area of study I also enjoyed business courses. When it came time to choose a program in post secondary education I combined my 2 favorite subjects and came up with hospitality management. Once I decided the career path I wanted to pursue I began seeking employment opportunities in this field. My first position was working as a cashier at a fast food restaurant. I have also worked in the kitchen of a local retirement home where I prepared and served meals to the residents. More recently I have spent my summers working at resorts in Muskoka, mainly in housekeeping. After I graduate I hope to secure a position as a supervisor in a hotel or resort. This will allow me to continue to build my skills and knowledge. Eventually I hope to move into a department manager position and later on to be operations manager of an accommodations property. |
