| Introduction | Jon Hale is a Master's student in the University of Kentucky's Communication Graduate Program and is a 2009 graduate of UK's School of Journalism and Telecommunications with a minor in Appalachian Studies. The Floyd County, Ky., native worked during the 2008-2009 school year as a sports columnist at the Kentucky Kernel, the award-winning student newspaper at UK.
