| Introduction | At the dawn of 2007 Mikey said goodbye to his back-breaking work as a cook under a megalomaniac chef and stepped down onto the lonesome road of the musician. Within a year he had helped build a recording studio and written, recorded and mixed a 13 track album - just before the implosion of the studio. A demo of his first single 'Turn Ya Dial Up' gave him a nomination for Best Unsigned Artist in Australasia at the Urban awards in Sydney. Before releasing the album 'Free Slaves', Mikey went on tour with now colleagues, Kolab and entered the studio and recorded and mixed their debut album 'What Comes Next'. Living with only the little money from performing and recording, his release of Free Slaves was hampered by a bare-boned existence yet the CD received praise and favour amongst listeners. Since then Mikey has been building a new recording studio which is open to the public and has been utilized by many artists in Auckland, and has performed around NZ and in Australia with The Shades, Kolab, Batucada Sound Machine and solo to boot. |
