About me

Introduction Ellen was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma in February 2009. This is a cancer that affects developing nerve cells. It is rare, but the most common solid cancer of childhood. Treatment is intense with 8 courses of chemotherapy, stem cell transplantation, radiotherapy and then yet more chemotherapy. Ellen is soldiering through this regime with indescribable courage, humour and determination. For the stage of disease that Ellen has, cure rates after treatment remain low, with survival after treatment in the region of 30 - 40%.
