| Introduction | My journey into family history began with a little booklet my grandmother shared—one her own grandmother had lovingly compiled. I was hooked. In the summer of 1962, I spent days hunched over a manual typewriter, carefully retyping every page. The genealogy bug bit even deeper in high school, thanks to an English teacher who was also a passionate genealogist. She not only taught me how to dig deep and write well, but took me on my very first trip to an archive in 1967. Since then, I’ve been uncovering stories—for myself and for others—and the thrill of the hunt has never worn off. |
