Introduction	Mara Elisabeta Hâjdău (called Mary Haiku by Immigration) is an assistant to the magistrat of her home district. At age nine, her family sent her to the schloss as an apprentice to the tax assessor. As with many in service, she was minimally educated until she reached the castle. She was deemed bright enough to learn higher office skills in addition to the basic reading, writing and accounting needed for a clerk's apprentice. Her apprenticeship and journeyman contracts complete, and the current assistant accounts manager not yet ready to retire, she managed to be sent to the magistrat's heir abroad.
