Introduction	Alan completed a master's degree in higher education and a bachelor's degree in marketing and economics from Ball State University. While on campus, Alan contributed the weekly column "It's All Greek to Me" for the Ball State University Daily News, and has contributed freelance columns to the Louisville Courier Journal, Indianapolis Star, and Lynchburg News and Advance. He currently resides outside Washington, DC, working and teaching for the University of Maryland.
