| Introduction | The Digital Imaging class at MiraCosta College created this blog to present their proposals for public art pieces to be installed on the Oceanside campus. They were told to imagine that the college had a 100,000.00 art budget set aside for the beautification of the Oceanside campus. First the students researched by studying the UCSD’s Stuart Collection, http://stuartcollection.ucsd.edu/StuartCollection/index.htm. They also studied the work of: Barry Megee and Margaret Kilgallen, Mel Chin, Maya Lin, Jenny Holzer, Tim Hawkinson, Mark Dion, Krzysztof Wodiczko in the KPBS series: Art in the 21st Century, http://www.pbs.org/art21/. Once they completed their research they photographed possible sights on campus. Photoshop CS4 was used to construct their proposals. During this process they learned about site-specific art. They also learned to create and upload web graphics with an artful eye. |
