| Introduction | My 35 years of experience as an eco-developer and jungle trekker in Southeast Asia will be the subjects for my blog. I've spent all of my adult life in Thailand and SE Asia, mostly enjoying nature. Over the years, I developed several eco-resorts. When I started, with my Farm on the River Kwai, the term eco-tourism hadn't been invented. I was one of the first to do rafting down that river and later a tree house resort at Khao Sok National Park, one of the most beautiful places in Thailand with towering limestone cliffs and a park teeming with wildlife (khaosokaccommodation.com) I discovered a pristine island two hours north of Phuket, with hornbills, sambar deer and, sea turtles living on the island, and set up an eco-resort there which is thriving today (goldenbuddharesort.com) and also was the first to do a resort on now world famous Railei Beach, Krabi (raileibeachclub.com). In all these projects, I strove to preserve and enhance the existing environment with low density and low energy use as guiding principles. I wasn't just following the fad; it has always been my natural instinct to preserve what nature gives us to enjoy. |
