| Introduction | 2 years and 7 months ago I decided that I was going natural. At the time I wanted permanent color in my hair and I knew that having a double chemical in my hair was a no-no and that I would have to sacrifice one or the other. So I chose the perm. I didn't do a BC but after 15 months, I wacked my whole ponytail off. I had a 'high-low' bob. This was the shortest my hair had EVER been. I hated it! I was still fighting with 2 different hair textures. After several trims I was completely natural. So guess what was one of the first things I did? You guessed it, I colored my hair, and colored it some more, and then some more. When I was done, I was honey blonde in the front and a regular brown in the back. I really didn't wear WnGs and twist/braid outs because it would have made my hair look even shorter, so my Chi flat irons became my best friend. I started straightening my hair week after week until I started to notice hair breakage. I realized that I was damaging my hair and that I would have been better off keeping the perm. I then made the decision to give the flat iron a break and embrace my natural curls...And here I am today. |
