| Introduction | The year was 1991, my junior year at NYU. One warm Spring night, as I stepped through the door of a crowded roof party, I thought I heard someone shouting, "The cakes are in the back! The cakes are in the back!" Internal alarm bells rang—CAKE!! Enraptured, I hustled my way toward a far off corner, wedging myself through a dense mass of people, straining to locate the cakes—or at least some sign of frosting. And that's when I saw it. Not a cake, but a keg, a silver beer keg and a pump. Confused, disappointed and a little embarrassed, I realized that night that I was perpetually on the hunt for cake. I still am—cake and tasty food in general. Chronicling that pursuit is this blog. |
