| Introduction | “Home Subjects” is a new research working group which aims to illuminate the domestic display of art in Britain in its historical context, c.1750-1900. Our goal is to examine the notion of the home as the ideal place to view works of art, a view which intertwined in all areas of art and design throughout the nineteenth century, despite the prevailing historical narrative of the development of public museums. |
