| Introduction | I was driven to learn about investing as I saw the effects of the "lost decade" on my potential retirement security. My full service broker didn't satisfy my need to understand how to thrive in hard times and took thousands in brokerage fees to earn me almost nothing. Eventually, I got up the courage to divorce myself from the "experts" and trust myself to make decisions I could live with. Like others, I've made some big mistakes, but on the balance I'm doing pretty well growing my retirement portfolio, and I'm quite certain that I have more interest in the success of my efforts than anyone else possibly could. |
