| Introduction | From growing up in the mini-metro of Baroda to working in the mammoth city of Mumbai and living in a small town in Connecticut and now in Columbus, I love the experience and flavors that various cities offer. I don’t just mean flavors in the culinary sense, but everyday nuances too. Not being able to see a five-year old’s face on a train in Mumbai as he carried a tall pile of books is an image difficult to forget. He did the balancing act to make ends meet. There are several similar thought provoking incidences. At my Ohio State University orientation, I got talking with two Indians. After exchanging pleasantries, they asked who I lived with. “I am married and live with my husband.” After some time, one of them said, “Oh you are that kind of a student. I thought you were like one of us only who had come here to study.” I couldn’t help but reflect on his thoughts. Apart from writing and meeting people or traveling, I love talking. I feel that men talk as much as or probably more than a lot of women. And I love experimenting with the food I prepare. At the end of the day, there are so many things to do yet, everyone has their own Bucket Lists, so do I. After all, it’s just one life! |
