| Introduction | I'm an aging, big footed ultrarunner with hairy armpits and nostrils, hence my nickname Sasquatch. I grew up in Kansas, went to school in Oklahoma, joined the Air Force and saw the world, and settled in Colorado. Never was athletic as a kid, but took up running while in AFROTC to qualify for the annual mile and half run. Somehow I graduated to longer and longer runs. I used to ski, and ran to stay in shape in the off season, but haven't picked up a ski in 13 years. Funny how life evolves. Lately I've grown to running flatter terrain more than the local mountainous terrain, but I've been known to still do mountain trails, just not as fast and graceful as I used to be. Exercise-induced asthma limits when and how much I can do up high anymore. I consider it another one of life's challenges. Doing upper body lifting helps a great deal. So does albuterol. |
