About me

IntroductionI graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in December 2011 with a degree in Social Work. While eventually it is my plan to continue my education in the way of obtaining my masters in Social Work, I have made the decision to dedicate the next year of my life to an organization with a purpose that is vital to our society. Americorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) is a program that engages 18– to 24-year-olds in team-based national and community service in the United States. NCCC teams complete about four different six- to eight-week-long projects during their 10-month term of service. Each team is made up of eight to twelve Corps Members and one Team Leader. There are five regional campuses and I will be in the Southern region stationed out of Vicksburg, MS. To heighten my experience, I am lucky enough to be serving with my college roommate and one of my best friends, Jamie. While we will be on different teams, we will both be in the southern region and having that home base will be a blessing! I will be utilizing this blog to narrate my experiences leading up to leaving as well as my 10 month stay serving the southern states!
