| Introduction | Friends in Africa is a charity that cares for the poor, sick and starving people of Senegal, Africa, through medical and dental treatment, feeding programs and health education. Teams of volunteers from the U.S. working with Senegalese physicians, dentists, nurses and pharmacists conduct quarterly two-day medical clinics in the slums and remote villages surrounding Dakar. At each clinic hundreds of sick infants, children and adults are given medical and dental treatment and any needed prescriptions and supplies. As well, we provide meals for thousands of malnourished people who face a daily struggle against hunger. During each clinic, while patients wait for treatment, health seminars provide vital information about topics such as reproduction and nutrition. |
