Introduction A freelance writer for almost three decades. I have had the pleasure to write for a wide variety of venues over the years including, newspapers (local and regional) magazines (local, regional, national and international), writing blog posts for local companies, and much, much more. I am currently writing a great feature in the Sunday Canton Repository called Five Questions. I love doing this feature that focuses on introducing people from around the community to readers. I love doing all kinds of writing, meeting people, learning new things and just experiencing life in general. One of the newest learning areas I've been enjoying is learning and writing about the rubber, plastics and tire industries and writing for Rubber News which is part of the Crain's Communication publications. I was an avid book reviewer and have probably reviewed several hundred books over the years. I really also enjoy writing blog posts and have decided to give this blog more attention than I have over the years. Stay tuned and return often for local news bits, travel posts, gardening ideas, book reviews, music and whatever catches my attention that I think will interest readers.
Interests In random order, my list of interests includes writing, reading, walking, Starbucks coffee, Sundance (my cavapoo) playing golf, travel, a good glass of white sangria with plenty of fruit, walking or reading on the beach - any beach, any time, anywhere. Being with my family and friends. Plus, I'm a news hog. I read, watch, write the news all the time. I got my start in writing for publication as a business writer writing about sales, marketing, public relations and other business related topics. One of the first magazines I wrote for on a regular basis was called Sales and Marketing News out of Chicago, IL. Unfortunately it is no longer published but I enjoyed every article I wrote for them and met a lot of business owners and professionals through the interviews. Still love writing about business and a whole lot of other topics as well.
Favorite Movies Any movie with Kevin Costner, Paul Newman, Judy Garland or (don't laugh), Doris Day. Oh, I forgot Robert Redford. My dog is named after his Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid movie! My dog is named Sundance!
Favorite Music I never walk away from any good music. And, good music can be found in classical, Jazz, country, classic rock, rap or bluegrass. I love it all and listen to it all.
Favorite Books I still have not found a series of books that I enjoy more than the alphabet murder series by Sue Grafton. Her main character, Kinsey Millhone, is one of the best characters that I personally relate to. All of the books in the series are fast reads for me, some only taking a day or two, and they include spellbinding mysteries without all the blood and guts and science fiction. Unfortunately, Grafton passed away before finishing the the book for the letter Z so I'll never know how if Kinsey is still a detective, still looking for love and still driving a VW bug or a real car like her Mustang.
