| Introduction | I am a mama to seven children, one of whom is deceased. Of my living children, one is deaf, one is autistic and bi-polar, and one has rheumatoid arthritis and general anxiety disorder. The other three are not disabled, but neither would they fall into the realm of "normal" children. On top of this, I myself am disabled. I have struggled with mental illness for ten years, and only in the last year have I found significant relief from that challenge. However, a year ago, in the summer of 2009, I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a disease that causes, among other things, fusion of my spine. I am 44 years old, and I use a walker. |
