| Introduction | In Feb 2012 I became pregnant with my second baby. At our 20 week scan he was diagnosed with an omphalocele. My world fell apart - my unassisted birth, my natural pregnancy was blown out of the water. I had ato have a highly medicalised birth. My baby was taken away from me to be put in an incubator. At 5 days old he was diagnosed with Trisomy 18. We spent three of the longest weeks in hospital. We brought our tiny baby home and had the most amazing time getting to know this wonderful little baby boy, and working through the minefield of medicalised care. On 16th May 6 days short of being 6 months old, he died. The words of this bog are my diary of emotions. Helping me get the muddle out of my head and onto paper. |
