| Introduction | Now I get to tell you all about the wonderful world of me. My name is Shahlaa, I'm 24 & live in London with my lovely husband. I began my interest into lampwork & jewellery a few years ago when I picked up some beads & wire & ended up with a pretty necklace. I then rolled out into bridal jewellery & have my own successful bespoke bridal & occasion online jewellery business. I then found lampwork beads & got really interested in the creativity behind them. I booked a beginners course with Sam Halliwell of Aurora Beads and was hooked! I love making beads! For me it is the ultimate art. It incorporates detailed small scale work, a little bit of danger, & a mini masterpiece at the end. I started making beads myself in 2008 on basic torch & I recently upgraded to professional lampworking set up. Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to have a one-to-one with the inspirational lampwork artist Julie Fountain of Lush Lampwork, which has totally helped me find my style of glass making. Outside of the bead world I am studying hard at medical school & only have a 2yrs to go until I am fully qualified. I am very blessed to have a supportive husband and a wonderful family. |
