Introduction Alex Hofford is a photojournalist based in Hong Kong, where he has lived for over a decade, using the city as a base to cover stories in the region. In 2008, Alex was in China to cover the Sichuan earthquake and the Beijing Olympic Games for the European Pressphoto Agency (EPA). Since establishing his company in Hong Kong in 1998, Alex has carried out editorial assignments across the region, having worked mainly in Asia, but also in the Middle East and Africa. During this time, Alex has built up a large digital stock library of documentary images which is currently up for sale. Currently, Alex covers Hong Kong, Macau and China for EPA, and has most recently been published in The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, The Guardian, The Observer and Time Magazine. Much of Alex’s work focuses on environmental issues. Alex recently spent four months on assignment in the Pacific Ocean for a large environmental NGO covering the problems of marine pollution, shark finning and over-fishing. Alex is British, was born and raised in Cambridge, and educated in London.
