Introduction Jan Priddy was born in Corvallis, Oregon but spent most of her childhood north of Seattle. She completed two Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in visual arts at the University of Washington, cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Her metal work and ceramic sculptures were shown in galleries and museums throughout the west. And then she moved home to Oregon and had children. She lives with a husband (since 1974), a saluki named Yeti, and a cat named Leakey on property that has been in her family since 1911. Her grown sons, daughters-in-law, and granddaughter live in Portland. Her writing has earned an Oregon Literary Arts Fellowship, Arts & Letters fellowship, Soapstone residency, Pushcart nomination, and publication in journals such as CALYX, Raven Chronicles, StringTown, Pacific Magazine, Work Magazine, Ink-Filled Page, The MacGuffin, Mused, RAIN, North American Review, StringTown, VoiceCatcher, Brevity, and Weave. After completing the Pacific University MFA program in fiction, she continues teaching high school English and college classes on the north Oregon coast.
Interests I am interested in talking to the world and in having something interesting to share and in trusting that if I work at it long and hard enough I will accomplish those things, education, running, writing, nature
Favorite Books The ones with words. The ones with pictures. The ones that make sounds. The ones with all of the above!
