Introduction | I am passionate about journalism... it's more like a calling for me. I specialise in covering South African politics. I am for an active citizenry, especially in a democratic order such as ours. I believe it's the public that drives government. Elected officials have to serve the public, not enrich themselves at the expense of the public. I am currently in the employ of The Citizen newspaper, a daily publication in South Africa. I'm the paper's Political Editor. The Fourth Estate (the media) plays an indispensable role in any democracy. I therefore feel honoured to be able to make a contribution to the country's political landscape or sphere. I hail from a rural village of Gcilima in KwaZulu-Natal. My village is a few kilometres from Margate, one of the country's preferred holiday destinations during the festive season in December. |
